Southern All Stars – Katuswaangana
Twelve [12] years ago, Zambian artist Real Jay and his colleagues, likes of KADAS, MAPICK, TS BABY, MPANDE, KADAS, SHEKU & others released a song titled Katuswaangana meaning “Let’s Unite”. At the time, it was a song of hope. Today, it reads like a warning, and a prayer produced by the late ALLAN MAPICK.
In a season where conversations around language, tribe, and identity have grown louder on social media and in politics, _Katuswaangana_ has found new life. The message Real Jay put to music over a decade ago is the exact message Zambia needs right now.
When Real Jay recorded _Katuswaangana_ with his colleagues, Zambia was already a melting pot of over 73 languages and cultures. The song wasn’t about erasing differences. It was about choosing each other despite them.
